Gear Guide

Surf Equipment Guide Madeira

What to bring, what to rent, and what you absolutely need for Madeira's reef breaks. Reef protection is not optional here.

Reef Boots Are Non-Negotiable

Most Madeira breaks have volcanic reef or boulder bottoms. Reef boots prevent serious cuts. Even experienced locals wear them. Don't learn this the hard way.

Water Temperature

Wetsuit Guide by Season

Madeira water stays 17-24°C year-round. Always bring neoprene.

Winter (Dec-Mar)

17-19°C
3/2mm Full Suit

Spring (Apr-May)

18-20°C
3/2mm or Spring Suit

Mornings still cool. Spring suit fine for midday sessions.

Summer (Jun-Aug)
