About Madeira Surf editorial
Madeira Surf is written by a small editorial group, not by a named coach. Every figure on a page (a lesson price, a package length, a group ratio, a swell window, a water temperature, a wetsuit thickness) is taken from the school's own page or from an official source and carries the date it was read. Nothing is ranked by commission. A named Madeira-based author, a certified surf coach or a federation-registered instructor, is being recruited; until that person is on the page, the site claims no sessions it has not surfed.
Areas of expertise
- Beginner spot selection (sandy vs reef)
- Jardim do Mar post-2010 seawall reality
- Paul do Mar boulder-bottom risks
- NW vs W vs SW swell windows
- Wetsuit choice by season
- Surf school selection (federation-certified vs not)
- Surf camp + lodge fit by ability
Methodology
Spots, schools and packages are compared on what the schools' own pages state: lesson format, group ratio, equipment included, package length, price and cancellation terms, read on the date shown on each page. Swell windows and water temperatures are cross-checked against Surfline, Magic Seaweed and the local Madeira Surf Forecast group. Reviews on third-party platforms are read for patterns but not reproduced. Where a fact cannot be checked against a source it is left out rather than guessed. Corrections with a source are applied on the page and the verified date is updated.
