How to read it

Looks on: swell direction, period, size and wind all sit inside the spot's window.
Marginal: size and direction fit but the period is short or the wind is wrong. Worth a cam check before driving.
Probably not working: at least two of the four are out. Look at another coast: the north and south-west coasts rarely fire on the same day.
Beginner spots (Porto da Cruz, Machico, Seixal, Fajã da Areia) carry a size ceiling, so a big winter day reads as "not working" there on purpose.
