What we publish

Madeira Surf publishes spot guides, school comparisons, price indexes, seasonal guidance and interactive tools for surfing in Madeira. Everything is written for the person planning a surf trip or lesson - beginner to intermediate first, with honest coverage of the advanced points because that is what the island is known for.

How we research

  • Prices and school details are read directly from operator websites and carry a last-verified date on the page. When a price changes, the date changes.
  • Conditions guidance is cross-checked against Windguru, Windy, Surfline and the IPMA marine bulletin, plus local surf-forecast groups.
  • Spot information is being verified claim-by-claim with a local Madeira surfer. Anything not yet confirmed carries an explicit "unverified" flag - it is labelled, never quietly listed.
  • Original media. Photos and video on spot pages are being replaced with original material shot on the island. We do not use stock imagery presented as a specific spot.

Neutrality

Schools and spots are never ranked by commission. Affiliate partnerships (GetYourGuide, Viator, Stay22) and any future sponsor slots are disclosed on the page and in the Disclaimer. A school cannot pay to be recommended, and a spot we cannot stand behind gets flagged rather than promoted. We never accept hosted lessons or free sessions without disclosing them.

Who writes it

Content is produced by the Madeira Surf editorial group and reviewed against the verification checklist before publication. We do not publish under invented personas or credentials - when a named Madeira-based author joins, their real name, photo and credentials will appear on the authors page.

Corrections

If something on this site is wrong - a price, an access note, a hazard, a claim about a spot - tell us on WhatsApp at +351 925 567 060. Verified corrections are fixed promptly and the page's last-verified date is updated. Local surfers who flag errors get them fixed fastest - that is the point of the verification programme.
